I went to the new Star Trek movie with some trepidation, because you know "they" are trying to make a movie about "my" Star Trek.

I saw the trailers and was not really impressed by them and was kinda rolling my eyes at them because I was thinking "oh great, they've turned my show into Star Trek 90210!" Yes, the special effects looked awesome, but the actors....well I had my doubts.

But I decided to go and give it a try because I have heard goods things about J.J. Abrams and figured he wouldn't dishonor the memory of a T.V. show that so many loved, so I went.

And I am so glad I did!!! The movie was great...fun...entertaining and just a joy to watch! I really recommend it to all!! Go...watch...enjoy. I think it is well worth the money!

I went to 1200 noon showing, I figured I would avoid the crowds and really just enjoy the movie and if it was bad, I wouldn't hear alot of complaints. And as it turned out, the people were all Trekkies!! There was a buzz in the theater, everyone was excited about the movie. I mean when the Coca-cola question (you know the questions they ask about movies and actors) asked "Who said Live long and prosper?" and everyone in the theater shouts "Spock!" You know you are with the right crowd.

Anyway, the movie started and we all settled down to watch it.

Beware of spoilers if you read what is under the cut!!

I recieved my Kindle 2 on Wednesday and all I have to say is.......OMG it is the greatest thing since...since,....I don't know what, but I love it!!!

It is so easy to hold while reading. It feels comfortable in my hands, better than a book.  Turning the page is easy and smooth. I have found that it takes a second or two for the page to "turn" but I have found that I can press the "Next Page" button while I am reading the last sentence and by the time I get to the end, the page has turned and I continue reading without having to wait.

Getting started was a breeze, and for me, that is saying something!!  Once I found it was an easy set up I went to the Amazon store and bought my first "book" and I also decided to buy a "skin" to protect my Kindle. After going through many, many, many pictures of the different skins available, and getting confused and fustrated, I finally decided on one called "Monet - Garden at Giverny Design"

The first "book" I have bought is of course a SGA novel, Stargate Atlantis: Entaglement by Martha Wells. Really enjoying the book thus far.

Well, anyway, I thought I would share my glee! I would recommend the Kindle to anyone!

I've seen far too many people post very negative reviews of SGA's episode "Brain Storm", but finally someone brave posted a good review!!

I really enjoyed the episode and really enjoy seeing Rodney and Jennifer together as a couple. I don't have a problem with two people finding love, no matter the age difference. If you liked the episode and are looking for a favorable review then go over to read
[info]horridporrid review, you won't be disappointed.

Reading a report by [info]wraithfodder about her trip to NJ 2008 Stargate Convention and part of her report from Chuck Campbell's part:

Why was Stargate Atlantis cancelled?
Finance. He said the producers had a lackadaisical attitude, just came downstairs, said they were cancelled and went back upstairs. However, they’re loyal to the crew, who will get first chance to work on Stargate Universe. While the crew were calling their wives, the actors were calling their agents. At the end of the fifth season, all the actors would renegotiate and of course, the salaries would go up, so the studios find it cheaper to just can them and get in cheaper unknown actors.

http://wraithfodder.livejournal.com/266533.html?#cutid1

Well that just sucks!! Fire the expensive actors, start a new show with unknown, cheaper actors, give themsleves a raise and carry on!!

MGM site has an article called "Across the Universe" in which Robert Cooper states

"As fans slowly get over the news that Stargate Atlantis will not be continuing to air for a sixth season, behind the scenes the wheels are beginning to turn on the franchise's third live-action series. Entitled Stargate Universe, the show will follow the fortunes of a group of Stargate Command personnel who unexpectedly find themselves manning an Ancient ship, the Destiny, which is on a mission to the far reaches of the galaxy."

What......"as fans slowly get over the news that SGA will not be continuing" .....  ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I haven't gotten over and will not be getting over SGA's cancellation anytime soon! Nor will I be waiting to tune in to watch SGU.

Then Robert Cooper stated "The SG-1 cast were quite young when they started," he argues. "Michael Shanks and Amanda Tapping were both in their early twenties when they first started the show – it just was on for ten years! So I don’t think we’re doing anything different than what we’ve done before when we’ve started a new show."

Let's do the math shall we....

Amanda Tapping - born in 1965, SG-1 started in 1997 = 33 yrs
Micheal Shanks - born in 1970, SG-1 started in 1997 = 27 yrs.
Richard Dean Anderson - born in 1950, SG-1 started in 1997 = 47 yrs
Chistopher Judge - born in 1964, SG-1 started in 1997 = 33 yrs.
Don't think they were in their early 20's....

As you know Hey!Nielsen has closed ...so sad to see it go, I greatly enjoyed posting my opinions there and see what other fans had to say about SGA cancellation. I met some really great folks there and will miss "talking" to them on a daily basis.

Just for fun and "old habits" I went to the website and found this advertiment posted by Hey!Nielsen

Nielsen Wants to Hear Your Voice!

The site is currently under revision for a relaunch in 2009.

Be a Part of Nielsen Research

Want to be considered for Nielsen panels on TV, advertisising, music, the internet, cell phones and more? Submit your email below for more information.

http://www.heynielsen.com/

So consider going over and signing up for the new revision, once it is up and running we can post our opinions on different subjects.
It's one way to let TPTB know what we think of TV shows.

SGA was cancelled as a result of a “creative call”!?

According to David Howe, SciFi present. “This was a creative call to move Stargate Atlantis into [made-for-television] movies and then to launch Stargate: Universe,” said Sci Fi president Dave Howe. “Stargate SG-1 went 10 years; Stargate Atlantis is now in its fifth season; and the producers looked at the stories and how it played out and how many more iterations of that story felt right and we totally agreed with them. “Stargate Atlantis had been great, but it was now time to think about the next chapter.”

Well this “creative call” was not very creative! It would have been more creative to have a true scifi lineup for Friday nights with SGU, SGA, and Sanctuary. This is a scifi channel, proof it by producing scifi shows, not wrestling, or scare tactics, or hunting ghosts! They seriously need to get another Creative Caller!
